Success in bodyweight training is directly connected to progression. Progression can be doing a harder exercise variation/move, doing more reps/sets, doing a workout or certain exercise faster, doing something with more resistance (leverage/weight), or it can be doing something with more control. Progression increases the intensity of the workout and leads to gains. No progression means no gains. This applies to all types of training, whether it be bodyweight, swimming, or lifting weights at the gym. No progression means no gains. I wrote that twice not as a typo but so you reading this can understand the importance of progression. From personal experience in the past a lot of my workouts were really random, consisted of the same movements and structure, and lacked overall progression. They were challenging, I sweated, and was sometimes sore the next day, but overall I didnt see much improvement. Only recently did I start incorporating progression, and the results are coming.

Brief example of progression (with exercises)…

bodyweight row with feet on ground > bodyweight row with feet on chair > chinup > pullup > one arm pullup

*every body is different so depending on how you train, progression will come at different rates. dont rush it, take it slow. set a goal, achieve it, and on to the next one!
